About
On June 14, 2008, two humans and two cats boarded a plane in the eastern United States. Three flights, three countries, two continents and an ocean later, they all collapsed on couches in their new home, with very dazed expressions.
By then it was June 16, although there’d been an international date line along the way, so the time thing got a little confusing for a while. Nevertheless, they had all arrived safely, even with all their luggage. And they soon began to eagerly peer out of windows.
This is the tale of those cats, and their humans. And there will be much Nepali along the way.

Did you travel east to west over the Pacific?
Yup, we went over the Pacific. Started out in DC, flew over Northern Canada and Alaska (the glittering ice was a beautiful shock, especially when leaving behind an early June heat wave), touched down briefly in Japan, changed flights, landed again in Thailand–at midnight, local time, finally, after starting out at noon twenty hours before. Slept some, boarded a 10 am flight to Kathmandu… and 3 hrs later, c. 33 hours after boarding plane 1, it was noon on a date 2 days after we’d left, and the cats had very wide eyes, and liked to hide under beds.
Probably I’ll post a few pictures from the trip, soon.
Kathy forwarded your blog. What entertainment we’ve had just reading about your adventures! We loved our visit in Moscow and St. Petersburg in June with K and K, and the week AFTER that in Prague. Kathmandu and the surrounding areas you describe, all sound amazing, both historically and geographically. Your visual and fun commentary is the best part! Say hi to Sean and belated Happy Birthday to him.
I can’t wait to see your next installment!
Hi Kimberly and Sean,
It is so good to read about your adventures, and enlightening. Sometimes, from your descriptions, you let me see, as you see, these magnificent shops, and temples.
I like the language lesson too.
It seems you, Sean, and the cats are adjusting very well to your surroundings. You have a nice home, and I am sure it will look pretty with all the new pots of flowers and veggies everywhere.
Love,
Aunt Linda
